Award Winning Passive House

A two storey, four-bedroom home in West Kirby, England for a price of £240,000. This build recently won the Domestic New Build category of the Buildings and Energy Efficiency Awards.

TheThe house has now been occupied for 2 years and the energy cost for heating, lighting, hot water and cooking was less than £15 per year for this period. A similar house designed to meet normal building regulations would use £2500 worth of energy each year.

“We are delighted to have won this award because it proves eco homes don’t have to be over expensive or need to be conspicuously unconventional in appearance.”

Colin Usher, Director, John McCall Architects

Its energy saving design which includes solar panels and an air-to-water air source heat pump (ASHP) decreases their annual energy bills dramatically.

AA BIM workflow was used throughout the design process, allowing John McCall Architects to model and simulate all aspects of the building’s performance. EcoDesigner STAR's advanced BEM export interfaces (such as gbXML and PHPP) allow full collaboration workflow with building energy consultants.
