Atmel’s ARM-based 32-bit micro-controllers are winners

Atmel's Latest ARM9-based Microcontroller with 200 MIPS The newest member of Atmel’s SAM9 family, the AT91SAM9263 embeds a 200 MIPS ARM926EJ-S-based microcontroller that overcomes the bottlenecks that occur with conventional ARM9-based MCUs in graphically-interfaced, data-intensive applications such as networked medical monitoring equipment and GPS navigation systems.

The AT91SAM9263 employs 27 DMA channels including Atmel’s 18-channel peripheral DMA controller (PDC), a 9-layer bus matrix, and two additional busses for data- and instruction-tightly-coupled-memories (TCMs) to boost CPU performance and provide on-chip data transfer rates of up to 41.6 Gbps. Two external bus interfaces (EBIs) support gigabyte-plus external memories. It is supported by a low-cost evaluation board, the AT91SAM9263-EK.

Optimized AVR Flash Microcontrollers for USB Full-Speed PeripheralsBased on the 8-bit AVR core, the new AT90USB82 and AT90USB162 feature a full-speed USB (12 Mbits/s) controller and have 8- and 16-Kbyte of Flash memory, respectively allowing in-system programming directly through their USB interface. On-chip EEPROM of 512 bytes allows for parameters settings without interfering with the application.

Communication with external components is ensured with SPI and UART interfaces. A 100 mA on-chip voltage regulator can also power companion devices such as laser sensors for high-performance mice or RF transceivers for wireless adapters.

Evaluation and debugging tools are now available from Alcom.

Dual Triple DMOS Output Drivers with Serial Input and PWM ControlT6819 / ATA6829 / ATA6831The T6819/ATA6829/ATA6831 are fully protected driver interfaces designed in smart power BCDMOS technology. They are used to control different loads by a microcontroller in automotive and industrial applications. Each driver of the T6819/ATA6829 is freely configurable and can be PWM controlled separately from a standard serial data interface. The power stages of the ATA6831 are combined to 3 half bridges. Due to the ATA6831’s enhanced PWM signal of up to 25kHz, the DC motor control is carried out without any audible noise caused by the PWM signal. All kinds of loads such as bulbs, resistors, and inductors can be combined.

LatticeECP2M : Low Cost FPGA with High End featuresLow Cost – 3.125 Gbps SERDES – Up to 95KLUTsLatticeECP2M FPGAs are an innovative response to the broad range of customers who have been clamoring for low-cost SERDES capability for chip-to-chip and small form-factor backplane applica-tions. The LatticeECP2M family maintains all of the compelling features of the 90nm LatticeECP2™ family that are required for high-volume, cost-sensitive applications, while dramatically increasing memory capacity (ranging from 1.2 Mbits to 5.3 Mbits) and DSP resources (ranging from 24 to 168 multipliers). The five devices in the series, ranging in size from 19K to 95K lookup tables (LUTs), provide an inexpensive alternative for implementing PCI Express, Ethernet, Serial RapidIO and CPRI/OBSAI interfaces. The E2CMOS®-based ispClock5300S device family now offers programmable clock skew, termination and interface standard support in a series of five devices with 4 to 20 outputs.

Recently, Lattice announced the addition of the programmable, ultra low cost ispPAC-POWR607 device to its second generation Power Manager II product fa-mily. The new devices target many cost-sensitive power management applicati-ons in consumer markets such as LCD TV, automotive multimedia systems, GPS receivers, multimedia terminal adapters and set-top boxes. The ispPAC-POWR607 device integrates a complete set of power management functions that typically require multiple ICs.

The POWR607 device provides ideal support for any 16-bit or 32-bit microproces-sor-based system. Designers have traditionally used a design-specific set of discre-te off-the-shelf devices to generate the CPU Reset, Power Supply Fault Interrupts and Watchdog Timers for each microprocessor-based design. The POWR607 de-vice can implement all these functions through logic programmed into its on-chip CPLD, which results in a standardized, lower cost design solution.

AMIC Technology is introducing 0.18 mm 32Mb NOR FlashAMIC, a developer of a wide range of memory components and application specific design solutions, announced the introduction of a 3.3V, 32M (2Mx16 / 4Mx8) NOR Flash, A29L320A, in 0.18 mm technology.

AMIC will use the 0.18 mm technology to shrink the existing 3.3V and 5V NOR Flash portfolio and introduce higher density products. AMIC Flash products are available in SOP, TSOP and TFBGA packages and PB-Free packages, also available in Industrial and Extended temperature range.

AT9933 : New AEC-Q100-Compliant LED driver is ideal for automotive Lighting applicationsThe AT9933 is a variable frequency PWM controller IC, designed to control an LED lamp driver using a low-noise boost-buck (Cuk) topology. The AT9933 uses patent-pending hysteretic current-mode control to regulate both the input and the output currents. This enables superior input surge immunity without the necessity for complex loop compensation. Input current control enables current limiting during startup, input under-voltage and output overload conditions. The AT9933 provides a low-frequency PWM dimming input that can accept an external control signal with a duty cycle of 0 - 100% and a high dimming ratio.

High Side Current Monitors feature wide input voltage range of 84V-450VSUPERTEX introduced two new high side current monitor ICs, the HV7801 and the HV7802. Both ICs feature a very wide operating range of 8V-450V. Both the HV7801 and the HV7802 boast fast rise and fall times of 700ns, low quiescent currents of 50uA, and space-saving packages. HV852 : Inductorless EL DriverSimplifies lighting display applications

The HV852 EL lamp driver IC is suited for lighting display applications where space is at a premium, such as small mobile phone keypads, thin illuminated watches, PDAs, and MP3 players. The chip utilises a patented charge pump scheme to eliminate the need for an external inductor, a diode, and a high voltage capacitor commonly found in conventional EL lamp driving topologies.
