Het gebruik van 'will' will betekent eigenlijk zal/zullen, en wordt in het Engels vaak gebruikt om de TOEKOMST te voorspellen. Je kunt het afkorten en ook ontkennend maken.

Ik word later rijk = I will be rich later! I'll be rich later!

Ik word later niet rijk = I will not/ won't be rich later.

Vertaal: Wat ga je morgen doen? Ik zal je helpen. Hij is om 8 uur op school. Ik maak vanavond mijn huiswerk niet. We gaan niet naar huis volgende week.

Vertaling: What will you do tomorrow? I will help you. He will be at school at 8 o'clock. I won't do my homework tonight. We won't go home next week.

Het gebruik van 'shall'

shall betekent ook zal/zullen, maar shall wordt alleen gebruikt in vragen met I (ik) of we! (wij)

Zal ik iets bestellen? = Shall I order something?

Zullen wij je helpen? Shall we help you?

Vertaal: Zal ik dat voor je doen? Zullen we gaan? Zal hij op tijd zijn? De hond zal je niet bijten! Zullen we een spelletje doen?

Vertaling: Shall I do that for you? Shall we go? Will he be on time? The dog won't bite you! Shall we play a game?
