Nederland tegen Zuid-Afrika – 31 mei 2013 De Zuid-Afrikaanse ploeg verblijft in Nederland als voorbereiding op de ICC Champions Trophy in Engeland en Wales in juni. De KNCB en Cricket South Africa (CSA) hebben voor de tour in Nederland een programma van trainingen en activiteiten voor teambuilding opgesteld. OVP clubhuis - The story continues We liggen nog steeds op schema voor het plaatsen van ons nieuwe clubhuis. Afgelopen dinsdag hebben de eerste graafwerkzaamheden plaatsgevonden. Vanaf aankomende donderdag kun je het clubhuis bewonderen, met elektriciteit, water en riolering! Voor de inrichting is er voldoende ruimte voor inbreng van de leden. Jouw voorstellen zijn van harte welkom bij Rick ([email protected]), Taco ([email protected]) en Michelle ([email protected]). Dit betekent ook dat we een aankomend weekend dus ook echt aan de slag kunnen op locatie OVP: - schoonspuiten van de buitenkant - wie komt ons helpen met zijn eigen hoge drukspuit? - schilderen binnen en buiten - bestrating - stofzuigen van de binnenkant - graag in de ochtend Ook materialen als tegels en hout zijn van harte welkom. OVP clubhouse - The story continues Still on schedule for our new clubhouse. Tuesday the first preparations have been done. On Thursday the clubhouse will be placed, with facilities such as electricity, water and drainage. For the interior there is plenty of room for your ideas. So please let us know your suggestions via email to Rick ([email protected]), Taco ([email protected]) and Michelle ([email protected]). It also means that this weekend we can work at the clubhouse on location at the OVP. - clearing of the outside with a pressure washer - who can help us out with his own pressure washer? - painting inside and outside - paving - vacuum cleaning of the inside - in the morning Also materials such as wood and tiles are more than welcome. Ladies Day 20 april 2013 De damesdag op 20 april was een gezellige happening waarbij de beginselen van het cricketspel werd bijgebracht in een paar sessies met vangen, gooien, bowlen en batten. Na de lunch was er een wedstrijdje om het geleerde in praktijk te brengen.

Update on sponsoring There is an urgent need to raise funds to improve the facilities of our club. The current priority is to install the clubhouse at its new location and renovate it to provide a focal point for our club activities. An artist impression of the bar is shown below.
The sponsor committee is working on the following activities to raise funds:
1 Contacting Past and Present Members for additional
contributions.
2 Contacting local businesses for financial contributions in return
for placement of logos on the website with a link to their
website. The minimum for this will be €100.
3 Providing an opportunity to local and other businesses to place
logos on team shirts for cost from €175 to €400 depending on
the position of the logo.
4 Sponsoring of balls at matches. Individuals and members can
sponsor the ball for each match at a cost of €20.
The objective is to raise a minimum of €5,000 with the above initiatives within the next three months. Therefore, the committee hopes all members will assist in this exercise by identifying and approaching potential sponsors to contribute. Jeugd Cricket Festival Op zondag 21 april was het jeugd cricketfestival in sporthal De Cuyl. De jeugd uit Leiden/Oegstgeest en omgeving in de leeftijd van 7 tot en met 12 jaar kon kennismaken met cricket. Het was een geslaagde dag met veel enthousiaste jeugd onder leiding van Brian met hulp van begeleiders Martijn, Martijn, Eldert, Rick, Christine, Arnold, Rudolf en Eugenie en een heerlijke lunch van Wendy en Jenske. Een mooi begin van een nieuw seizoen!
Invitation Jacques Kallis Foundation Diner Wednesday evening, May 29 at 19h00, a fundraising dinner is being organized at V.O.C. Rotterdam at which Jacques Kallis, world’s greatest allrounder, will be the 'guest of honour'. During this dinner Jacques will be interviewed about his cricket career, the achievements of the Proteas and of course his Foundation. Before the dinner Jacques is available for a 'picture and autograph' session for young cricketers. Proceeds of the dinner (€100 p.p.) and an auction of a number of unique cricket memorabilia will go towards the Jacques Kallis Foundation. The Jacques Kallis Scholarship Foundation supports boys from disadvantaged communities with scholarships at four renowned high-schools in South Africa. The focus is on the one hand on their academic education but every scholar possesses also some kind of cricketing talent. During their scholarship a lot of attention is paid towards their cricket development.
