Page 4: About bosenlommer

Service Centre Bos en LommerWe believe it to be very important that every newcomer inour society learns to speak and understand Dutch well andhas sufficient access to information on how the Dutchsociety is organised. Using this as a starting point we havemade it our mission to make sure every new citizen, notoriginally from the Netherlands, partakes into anaturalization-project and is connected to a Facilitator.

The newcomer together with the Facilitator draws up apersonal plan. In this process the larger context of theFormal procedure for naturalization is taken intoconsideration. The Facilitator organizes regular meetings with his/her client. The Facilitator is in tune with all relevant rules, courses of action and procedures concerning naturalization. Furthermore the Facilitator’s knowledge about his/her client’s native culture and preferably language is adequate enough tosupport his/her client to integrate and participate in Dutch society assmoothly as possible. In case of problems and other issues that needproper attention the Facilitator can direct his/her client to the relevantsocial utility, situated in the same center.

Page 6: About bosenlommer

MCC Anne Tefle is a multicultural organisation forwomen in the Kolenkit. The organisation occupiesitself with mothers living in relative isolation andwomen who wants to emancipate, mostly ofMoroccan and Turkish origin. The nature of theiractivities is such that the Centre’s intention tocontribute to the development of women towardsparticipation in different areas of Dutch society is met.

Our beloved Princess Maxima visited the MCC AnneTefle within the framework of her particular interestin and engagement with the relation between the level of command of the Dutch language and the overall emancipation of women with a migrant background.

The main reason that the organisation is situated in the Kolenkit isthat one of the requirements is that the activities have to be easilyaccessible for all mothers. Every week 700 hundred women participate inthe various activities, such as the Dutch language lessons. Acquiring thelanguage positively contributes to improving their position in society anddecreasing their vulnerability.

Podium Mozaïek (Mosaic)

Until 2005 the building that now accommodatesPodium Mozaïek functioned as a ChristianChurch. The European Union, together with thelocal authorities, invested in this Platform forinternational encounters and cultural productions. The main goal of the Multicultural PodiumMozaïek Foundation is to promote interculturalprofessional relations and pave the way for newkinds of cultural entrepreneurship and forms ofartistic expression.

Many years before the realisation of this cultural platform already a process of integration and participation by different groups with a foreign backgroundcould be observed. Groups that were represented by establishedsocial-and volunteer- organizations. Their initiative to develop theircitizenship further is sponsored by the European Union.
