THE POWER OF VOICE INTERFACES FOR PATIENT CAREThe key to great patient engagement and an effective digital strategy is meeting patients where they are and interacting them using the technologies they want to use. New AI-based consumer voice technologies are emerging as convenient, empathetic, and natural interfaces to engage patients in managing their health. This session uses examples from a voice and mobile solution designed to help people with Type II diabetes self-manage. Session participants will learn considerations for designing voice interfaces for specific “health tasks” and when to use “voice first”, when do consider other modalities, and potential pitfalls of voice. Patient feedback and real-world use cases will be included to deliver the concepts of good voice design, what is possible today, and where patient-facing voice technologies will take us in the future.

SECURING IoT – ESSENTIAL STEPS IN ENSURING PATIENT SAFETYYou’ve heard that medical IoT has a lot of security flaws that can expose life-sustaining devices to threats in the network, but do you know what to do about it? Determine your own risks and what you can do to protect yourself from the insecurity of the Internet of Things.

IoT has transformed healthcare in a significant way and is a game-changer for providers who embrace next-generation technology. Technologies that track patient data, improve healthcare operations, and provide remote and mobile patient monitoring help reduce costs and improve delivery of patient care. The variety and novelty of these devices introduces a range of cybersecurity concerns related to the Confidentiality-Integrity and Availability (CIA) triad that underpins HIPAA compliance, patient data protection, and over-all information security.

There are steps you can take, both before your medical devices get hacked and after it happens. Learn how to detect intruders and expel them quickly so that you can maintain your security posture and quality of patient care.
