Mamta Foun dation of Canada has, for this reason, adopted projects for 2 places where these girls are sheltered. With your donations, we are supporting t he construction of their new homes. Up to this day "Unique Home for Girls" run by Bhai Ghanaya Ji Charitable Society in Jalandhar City has received 60 lacs (6 million) Indian rupees and Jyoti Sarup Kanya Asra Society in Kharar (near Chandigarh) has received 40 lacs (4 million) Indian rupees for the construction of new homes for these girls. We also recognize the problem of family violence against the women in our Indo-Canadian community in Canada. Pics Society of BC has established a shelter house called "Harmony House" for the women and children who are victims of family violence. We have donated $15,000.00 to support this Harmony House Project. Our special thanks goes to Dhaliwal Banquet Hall, and particularly to Mr. Bahadur Singh Dhaliwal and Dhaliwal Family who prov ide all of the hall facilities along with free catering for over 1000 people for our annual fundraising dinner function every year. Our special thanks goes to the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University's Sikh Student Associations for choosing "Female Foeticide" and "Caste System in our Society" as the themes for their Annual Fundraiser Stage Show entitled “Nihaal.” They cho se Mamta Foundation of Canada as the charity for their function this year and they raised and donated $17,000 to Mamta Foundation of Canada for t his great cause.
