Christopher Ræburn takes inspiration from the maverick anthropologist Tom Harrison and his aptly named biography ‘The Most Offending Soul Alive’.

Harrison transcended cultural and geo­graphic boundaries and defied conven­tion, dividing opinions along the way; despite being quintessentially English he devoted his life to studying and preserving the environment and cul­ture of . Eventually recruited by the British army, Harrison was par­achuted in during the Second World War to persuade local tribes to sup­port friendly forces.

The unique military history and clash of cultures represented by Harrison was the starting point for a collection simply named after the country in which he made his home, . The theme of jungle survival runs throughout; reclaimed military sur­plus including air break para chutes, sleeping bags, workwear denim, and bivouac canopies are decon­stru cted and meticulously Remade into signature

outerwear; however this collection also marks the most resolved manifesta­tion of Ræburn’s unique approach to design with Remade styles featuring across every category.

The body painting and textiles patterns of the Sarawak tribes of are referenced in fine gauge cotton knitwear and jersey styles. Unexpected materials such as cork have been woven into standout back­packs and used in panels on outerwear, alluding to the natural resources and weaving techniques used by the tribal communities.

Harrison’s beloved Orangutan provides a fitting seasonal mascot and can be seen swinging across sweaters and t­shirts in prints and flocked heat trans­fer patches developed with Avery Dennison RBIS. Maps of pro­vide another key print inspiration and form the basis of a unique partnership with bespoke knitwear specialists Knyttan, due for launch later this year.

The accessories’ offering has expanded considerably this season. Oversized orangutan rucksacks offer a striking new interpretation of the Christopher Ræburn animal bag concept and a percentage of each bag sold will be donated to the Orangutan Foundation (www.orangutan.org.uk) to help pro­

tect this beautiful but highly endangered species. The bestselling packaway styles also feature in the collec­tion with new sizes, fabrications and details, whilst the highly crafted woven and Remade rucksacks com­plete the seasonal offering.
